Hubertus Resereve Shiraz 2004
“Hubertus Reserve Shiraz “ is a blend from the old contorted , gnarled dry grown shiraz on the Wilcadene 70 yrs old and Winery Block 90 yrs old. The Wilcadene shiraz is grown on free draining sandy soil and the Winery block shiraz is grown on alluvial loam , these types of soil develop different characters in the fruit but both are of very high quality, but make a very substantial character wine when blended together. The vines are hand pruned and hand picked ,fermented in barrel then lightly pressed and matured in French oak for 19 months which has produced a big full bodied and strong fruit spectrum shiraz. Very good colour bright purple-red, a full bodied red with a harmonius array of blackberry and plum fruit with some dark chocolate and seamless oak, very elegant showing the vintage to full advantage.
